To Capture My Heart

To Capture My Heart

I’ve been thinking about these two characters for some time and I have been struggling on how to start their story. So what I’ve decided to do is write a series of microfiction detailing their story and maybe I can figure out what to do with these two.

Princess Yara has come with her father on a trip to another kingdom where she meets Prince Alford. The prince is smitten with her, however, Yara has sworn off love for the rest of her life. Feedback is welcomed. Enjoy.

He stopped short in front of me. Breathing heavily, as he had run here.

“Your Highness?”

“Allow me a moment to catch my breath Princess.”

“Shall I ring for a footman or a maid?”

“No, no. I will be quite well momentarily.”

I stood there awkwardly, waiting for the prince to catch his breath. Once he had, he presented himself upright, closing the gap between us, grabbing my hand in his.

“Yes?”

“I know you do not like me. And that you don’t want to be here, but I must tell you, I simply adore you and wish for nothing more than for you to be my bride.”

“Prince Alford, I’m flattered but I–”

“I know, you cannot. You have vowed never to love again. But give me time, I shall persuade your heart to beat for love once again.”

I covered my free hand to my face to keep from laughing. Although it was overkill, it was endearingly sweet.

“Very well Your Highness. Woo me. If you think you can.”

“With pleasure.” He pulled our entangled hands to his lips, placing a chaste kiss upon my hand.

I could already feel myself warming up to him.
