VOTE: Prompts for Halloween

VOTE: Prompts for Halloween

While I’m no stranger to themed writing assignments or prompts, I just don’t typically write horror or Halloween themed pieces. However, you can’t grow if you don’t try. So now I’m trying to decide what to write for the spooky season.

To give you some background, what little horror or Halloween I’ve experienced is Disney’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charles Schultz’s It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and Beetlejuice and The Addams Family cartoon and movies. As well as Netflix’s Wednesday. But I don’t want to create content that’s similar to theirs, not just for fear of copyright infringement, I want to create something unique and original.

So what to write? Well, when in doubt, google. Thus I googled Halloween prompts and below is a list you all can choose from and vote on by leaving a comment below. The one with the most votes, I’ll use for Halloween. Also, please feel free to make suggestions and I’ll add them to the list and post an updated list before Halloween.

  1. A story about a kid going trick-or-treating.

  2. A spooky story told around a campfire.

  3. A retelling of your favorite Halloween ever.

  4. A story set at a haunted fairground on Halloween.

  5. A story about pumpkin picking with friends, family or a partner.

  6. A story where you are a ghost.

  7. A story where you’re bitten by a werewolf or vampire or some other mythical creature.

Here are just a few prompts to get the juices flowing. Links to where I got the prompts are listed below. See what you like and let me know or try them out for yourself. Don’t forget to vote by leaving a comment below.

As always, thanks for reading. Until next time  . . .
