Works In Progress

Works In Progress

So I wrote down all my works in progress and it turned out I had eight. And I had a few chapters started on each one of them. However, only one of them I had done a storyboard for. For those who have been following me, storyboarding is when I take the whole novel and write out all the scenes for each chapter on Post-it notes.

With that being said, the young adult, jock meets nerd novel is the one I should focus on. Although, it is not where my passion is at right now. My passion project is Pamuya, the supernatural, lovers across time story. But I know that story is going to require so much work. I will need to do research on Native American spiritualism and narrow that down to a particular tribe, or possibly keep it broad and figure out how to incorporate all Native American culture as a whole.

And as I wrote that, I immediately felt an overwhelming sense of dread. That’s just a lot of work that I don’t have the energy for right now. So that leads me to ask, what do I have the energy for? Well, with teaching four classes, and going to campus daily, as well as looking for extra employment to help with expenses, I only have the energy for a nap.

But I don’t want my works in progress to keep sitting there and I don’t anything with them. And like I wrote in my last post, find the one that’s easiest to work on. The jock meets nerd, and they fall in love is mostly written. And when I started this novel, I did it to prove that I could write a novel because my employer at the time felt fiction writing wasn’t worth it. And to her I say, bump you! But maybe writing a novel out of spite isn’t a good idea. So why do I want to write this novel?

Well, the novel is about a girl who has planned her whole life since a very age, which I can relate to. I had my life planned since I was 12 and then I become an adult, and nothing worked out the way I intended. So, I can draw from that experience and apply it this main character. As for the jock/love interest, he wants to change his image because he doesn’t like the way people see him, and he wants people to see more to him than his athleticism. And while I’ve never been a sporty person, I understand wanting to be seen as more than just this one thing.

Now that I’ve written this all out, I am kind of excited to work on this project. Plus, I don’t want to work on a new project, only not to finish it or work on another project that will require more attention than I can give to it.

 As always, thanks for reading.
