NaNoWriMo Day 6 & 7

NaNoWriMo Day 6 & 7

I didn’t like writing much yesterday. I was very tired and ended up falling asleep early. So today I wanted to make up for lost time. Yesterday I wrote 182 words while today I wrote 912 words. In total, I wrote 1,094 words. So yay me.

As I have mentioned (and constantly try to tell myself), it’s okay to take breaks. I really needed the rest since my body was too tired to even stay awake. I need to listen to my body and respond accordingly and not feel shame or guilt for not completing the things I set out to do. Tomorrow is another day and I can do it then.

Here’s an excerpt from today’s writing. Enjoy.

She placed her menu down and folded her arms over her ample chest, that bounced beautifully as she adjusted herself.

“Now you expect me to believe you brought me to a restaurant that you’ve never been to before?” She quirked up an eyebrow in disbelief.

I chuckled. “No. I have been here before but it was mostly for business. I never took the time to savor the food here, so I don't know what’s really good,” I explained.

“Well, do you want to go somewhere else?” She made out as if she were about to get up.

“No. Do you?”

“I mean, I want to go someplace you’d find the food enjoyable.”

I felt touched. She was really willing to change venues just to make me happy. It was rare to find a woman who knew about his wealth and didn’t expect things from him. But this was her night and I wanted her to have the time of her life.

Any place else they went would be a wait and the room would be crowded. Seclusion was the best bet to a wonderful evening.

“Can I level with you Nadia?” I began.

She unfolded her arms and placed them on the table in front of her, lacing her delicate fingers under a sexy chin.

“You actually like the food here and you were  . . . what, just trying to make me feel better about the prices?”

I laughed, loudly. A hearty laugh I hadn’t felt since my youth in college. “Ha. Can’t pull the wool over your eyes huh?”

“Derrick, it’s not just the prices.” She removed her hands from her chin, placing them shyly in her lap, refusing to meet my gaze. “I–”

“Say no more. Would you mind if I ordered for you? And if you change your mind about anything, we can order that later, okay?”

She nodded in the affirmative.
