Pamuya - Snow

Pamuya - Snow

So we had a homework assignment this week where we had to write our characters in the same scene or scenario but they have different experiences. This is my attempt at that. Enjoy.

Ayden POV

Plff, crsh. Plff, crsh.

That’s the sound my feet made as they plummeted through the snow with each step. Beside me, Pamuya glided across the ground, her feet never touching the cold, powdery, white surface.

Lucky you.

How am I lucky my love?

Nevermind. I continue to stomp my way through the snow. Until I heard the plff, crsh sound next to me. She looked thoroughly shocked for a moment before her face morphed into sheer delight.

“Is this what you feel?” She said aloud. “This is exhilarating!”

“Really?” I ground out, hugging myself, trying to warm myself.

“Are you not thrilled?”

I grappled with telling her the truth. That I hated every minute of this and wanted to return home. But I couldn’t return home because there was no home to go back to. I had made my bed and now I must lie in it.

Yet I saw the tilt of her head, the knit in her eyebrows, the adorable confusion on her face. And it made it all worth it again.

She gasped and I flinched. I turned to see what she was seeing but all I could see were some deer leaping through the trees. She grabbed my hand, jostling me about. Renewed with love for her I smiled warmly.

What are they? She spoke in my mind.

Deer. I told her.

What’s that?

A creature with antlers and it lives in the forest.

Amazing.

She tugged me along and I let her. Despite the soggy, slush seeping through my boots, soaking my feet, my body shivering with cold but my heart was filled with warmth and love for Pamuya. If I died tomorrow, I’d die happy knowing I put that smile on her face.
