NaNoWriMo Day 2

NaNoWriMo Day 2

Day two and I write 1,363 words today, giving me a total of 1,707 words. So I did not quite reach my goal but I am happy with what I accomplished. I almost reached my daily goal and so long as I keep going this route, I will definitely finish this novel. Because that is my actual goal, not the 50,000 word count. But it would also be nice if I reach the word count too. I just won’t be upset if I don’t though.

So I don’t have a lot to comment on my writing today, thus, I will leave an excerpt of what I wrote today. Enjoy.

The worst thing about being a senior was the lunch period. Hardly anyone ate in the cafeteria because seniors were allowed to go off campus. Usually, I would work in the library or the school newsroom (which was the computer lab) while Trina got us lunch, then she’d come join me. However, since we haven’t spoken since yesterday and Darius drove me to school, I knew that I wouldn’t be getting any lunch today.

Pop-tarts from the vending machine would have to do.

As I made my way down the quiet corridor towards the computer lab, I heard my name being shouted across the halls.

“Hey Chay, wait up.”

Chay? I hated being called Chay. No one called me Chay and lived to talk about it.

Just as I was about to turn around and let whoever have it, I was met with warm, solid, sturdy chest rippled with muscle and scented in orange and cinnamon. I nearly fell backwards until firm, muscular arms wrapped around my waist, steadying me.

I didn’t dare look up. I already knew who my savior was, and I just wanted to avoid those deep brown eyes and the effect they were beginning to have on me.

“You okay?” Darius asked, the deep rumble of his voice vibrating against my cheek, sending butterflies to my stomach.

“Yeah.” I finally looked up at him. I knew it was a mistake and I still did it anyway. Damit. Those dark pools of brown and warmth were staring straight at me, and I was getting lost in them.

I shook off the spell, gesticulating my head back and forth. I stepped out of his embrace, putting some distance between us and then asked, “What are you doing here?”

One of his perfectly quaffed eyebrows lifted but slowly came back down before that megawatt smile of his perched itself on his beautiful face.

“You’re something else Chay.”

“Oh really?” My arms crossed over my chest, ready for a rebuttal. “And what is that supposed to me?” A cocked out a hip to the side and arched an eyebrow of my own.

He closed the gap between us, filling my senses with his scent again before telling me, “You are the weirdest girl I have a met and oddly enough, I find myself wanting to find out why instead of running for the hills.”

For the second time that day, Darius had me stumped and I was thoroughly surprised by his character. Who was this guy?
