NaNoWriMo Day 14
It was hard writing today. Everything I wrote I wanted to redo right on the spot, which you can’t do with a no edit novella. But that’s easier said than done.
I was trying to pick up where I left off from yesterday and nothing was working. Then I realized I couldn’t keep wasting time writing about one day after the next. Either their relationship would escalate over a short period of time or I’d have to speed up time and have multiple days pass between them. Basically, I couldn’t fixate on each day.
I tried to push past the next day for a week later, but everything I wrote seemed ridiculous or didn't fit with the story or the characters felt awkward. Each time I started a new paragraph, I was starting a new part of the story. And soon I was writing a bunch of nonsense. And as my grandmother used to say, “You can’t make sense out of nonsense.”
Thus, I am going to have to sit down and create an outline. It’s the only way to know where this story is going.
Now I have an idea of what I want the characters to do and how I want the story to end, but the minutia in the middle is the part that needs ironing out. So I think I will work on that for tomorrow. Hopefully that will make the writing process a lot easier.
No excerpt today. Nothing I wrote seemed good enough to share.
As always, thanks for reading. Until next time . . .
